I wish there was a 30 minute version of heroes with all sounds/tracks being introduced one after the other over the basic tracks until it would build up to the »standard » Heroes song.

I have been trying to learn Fripp’s guitar part. I didn’t realise just how much is going on in that simple phrase.

Really wish we had an isolated track version of Fripp's third guitar track- it sounds really pretty and very much like his work when soloing over Frippertronics.

When you hear the disparate parts on their own, many of them don't sound good to me, or like rock'n'roll at all. Then, every time you put them all together, the music sounds like ✨M A G I C ✨ and the Stardust is back! I heard a completely different story as to how Bowie came up with the "kiss by the wall" lyrics but I'm gonna believe Tony Visconti.

11:42 my favorite part of the song. I also would love if they released a version of heroes with just fripps guitar, enos ambient elements, and bowies vocals. I would mix it myself if I knew how.

Bowie's Berlin trilogy albums all have a disastrously bad sound, as if they were recorded by a total amateur who sat down at the mixing desk at random. The quality of Bowie's music is of course brilliant, but the quality of the sound is appalling - and I wonder if it was recorded that way on purpose. I have to say that I have quite expensive audiophile equipment and I know what good sound is. I will give the example of the group Kraftwerk, who had avant-garde music for that time and also experimented with sound, and their albums were recorded incomparably better than Bowie's. It seems to me that Visconti had a pretty good feel for music production, but he had no idea about the audio aspect of recording.

Haha, I bet Joe did think it was too long but I really love that he clearly let Mick do whatever he wanted with it. I think it's great, I can't believe this was never used or even publicly heard until recent years! Their voices sound great together.

TBH, I do not like this song. The soundtrack is OK, but lyrics is contrived and kind of does not fit all that polyphony. IMO the best Fripp's collaboration was with David Sylvian (apart from his work with Eno of course).

Outrageous that Bowie estate gives Fripp no credit on the song. That Fripp/Crimson sound is in there holding it all together.

All the sounds he says wasn't "very good", or "cheesy", makes the song. I love abstract versions of the real thing. In art as well as music. I fear how Heroes would've sounded, had it been recorded today. Full brass orchestra. Full live string section. Now that would truly have been cheesy. By comparison, the Solina and Chamberlin sounds heartbreaking.
